CONCEPT “GENRE” AND “STYLE” AS PHENOMENON IN HUMANITIES (“MEDITATIONS ON DON QUIXOTE” BY JOSE ORTEGA Y GASSET)

The article refers to the difference in the use of the concepts of «style» and «genre» according to the linguists and literary critics, the need for coordination in the terms of values at philosophical basis. We consider the work of the Spanish philosopher Jose Ortega y Gasset “Meditations on Don Quixot” (1914), his thesis on language and psychological specifics of world perception. Universalism of the concepts “concept”,
“style”, “genre”, emphasized by the Spanish philosopher in his researches is important for all the humanities. Imaginative word that becomes the concept can be style creative factor. The article proposes to define as the concepts such terms as “symbol”, “allegory”, “metaphor” and “neologism”, which in turn became the dominants of modernist styles.
