THE “POLITICAL PRISONER’S NOTES” BY YURIY MOZIL’ AS A REPRESENTATION OF NOTES GENRE IN THE PRISON-CAMP PROSE

The article deals with the Yuriy Mozil’s “Political Prisoner’s Notes” as a representation of notes genre in the problem-thematic aspect of prison-camp prose. It studies the conformity of title marker “notes” to genre features of work. The article reveals the image of hero-narrator and peculiarities of narrative and plot. The “Political Prisoner’s Notes” highlight national opposition to Polish occupation of Western
Ukraine in the first half of the 20th century. The work has a subtitle, reproduces the autobiographical events from the author’s life. Yuriy Mozil’s was arrested for “anti-state activities”. He was under investigation in Stanislav prison. The title of “Political Prisoner’s Notes” contains genre marker that configures the recipient to perception of witness’ documentary evidence of historical tragic events. The text has discontinuity and fragmentation that inherent the notes; it is divided into integral and completed first person narratives. Yuriy Mozil’s managed to create autobiographical narrator self-concept, who is aware of his involvement to Ukrainian history and gives his own version of its perception.
