THE INTERPRETATION CONFLICT OF THE NOVELS BY UMBERTO ECO «THE NAME OF THE ROSE» AND «THE ISLAND OF THE DAY BEFORE»

The article presents the results of the comparative conflicts analysis of the main characters’ images found in the novels by the famous Italian writer Umberto Eco «The Name of the Rose» and «The Island of the Day Before.» The study is an attempt to specify the global conflict interpretation realized in the novels in the context of expanding the nature of open work theory. The comparative analysis of the main characters’ images of the novels allows the author to understand their conflicts at the level of the interaction between the author and the reader according to U.Eco’s open work theory. This approach lead to defining these novels as the realization of the theory and the process of extracting the meaning out fiction text.
