COORDINATES OF KYIV TOPOS IN THE NOVEL “TWINS” BY TARAS SHEVCHENKO: FEATURES OF THE URBAN ENVIRONMENT OF BEING

Abstract

The article attempts to explore the spatial continuum of Kyiv’s topos of the novel “Twins”
by Shevchenko through the loci of the urban reality. The retrospective dynamics of reproduction of the city’s attributes becomes the dominant disclosure of the specifics of the topos. The civilizational
and natural loci in the projection of places of the urban environment of being of the heroes are considered. It has been demonstrated that architecture, streets, attributes of the urban world, places
of nature have a dominant influence on the conscious and unconscious beginnings of the human image of the Kyiv topos. The urban environment of being of the heroes is projected in the perspectives of action, memory, intuitive knowledge of the realities of the city. The spatial continuum of the topos is examined through the anthropological modus. Through the psychological, socio-historical, cultural registers of the reception of the urban geography by the characters it is characterized their inner world of life. The axiological environment of the subject world of the city is investigated. The problems, the narrative specificity of the reproduction of the Kyiv topos have been clarified.
