THE ROLE OF SHEVCHENKO’S WAY OF CHRISTIAN TRADITION IN DMYTRO DONTSOV’S PHILOSOPHICAL AND HISTORIOSOPHICAL STUDIES

Abstract

The article investigates Dmytro Dontsov’s philosophical and historiosophical works which was greatly influenced by Taras Shevchenko’s poetry. It is based on Dontsov’s studies mainly such well-known as “Nationalism”, “Great Ancestors’ Truth”, “Spirit of Our Antiquity” and different articles. It is shown that poet’s poetry has the unique ability to develop national thinking, thinking about conservation, restoration and
development of Ukrainian values. Dmytro Dontsov`s life and studies is the evident example. In particular, we managed to trace the gradual deepening of understanding Kobzar`s poetry, the growth of national identity by reading and analyzing Taras Shevchenko’s poetry. Although poet`s poetry is written in the previous century, the researcher successfully used spiritual and mental capacity of “Kobzar” for solving the difficult geopolitical situation of Ukraine in the 20th century. It is shown that the main authority for the thinker is the Bible, “Kobzar”, spiritual heritage of the Ukrainian people. It should be noted that due to poet`s poetry
national identity, thinking about development of Ukrainian values gradually comes deeper. The article outlines the main areas of creative using of Shevchenko’s poetry, in particular: to form state thinking, to encourage in preserving traditional values of the Ukrainian people, to educate high aesthetic criteria.
