Abstract

The article examines the versions of representation of the urbanistic space in the modern Ukrainian author’s fairy tale. An attention is paid to “The City without Flowers” by Valerii Shevchuk, which concerns a stone black and grey city; an emphasis is made on absurdity of the modern urbanistic space that destroys in human all natural feelings, makes him look for new variants of existence. Collection “Kyiv Stories” by Zirka Menzatiuk is analyzed. In order to represent modern Kyiv the author refers to the system of sacral symbols, spiritual constructions, exteriors; the national colour of the capital of Ukraine is also stressed. In the work of this authoress Kyiv is a full image which has all essential sides of objective reality from the point of world view. A particular consideration is given to “The Fairy Tale about Old Lion” by Mariana Savka. It is optimistically charged. The adventures of fairy tale characters initiate a stroll around streets of Lviv; readers, watching them, familiarize themselves with the city, which contains past and present, memory of the nation’s history and its culture.
