REVOLUTIONARY CHARACTER OF VERGEGENKUNFT POETICS IN THE MEMOIR-NOVEL “PEELING THE ONION” BY GÜNTER GRASS

Abstract

In the article the author deals in space-time and its real and literary realization and outlines the main characteristics of literary time. With the help of achieved conclusions he analyses the poetics of Vergegenkunft literary method in the memoir-novel “Peeling the Onion” by Günter Grass and defines the main features of this revolutionary method of constructing the literary time. It is noted that the Vergegenkunft is the combination of past, present and future temporal planes with fiction that allows to enrich the temporal organization of the novel, bringing it closer to the temporality of real life. It is also shown that the use of Vergegenkunft literary method determines the use of fictional episodes and simulacra of famous historical individuals in this memoir-novel and also the organizations of composition using the method of montage in arranging episodes into a unified whole.
