MEMORY OF THE PLACE IN THE POETRY OF IVAN ANDRUSIAK
Keywords:
the memory of the place, narrative, historical landscape, natural landscape, archetypeAbstract
The article is dedicated to analyzing the concept of memory of the place in the poetry of Ivan Andrusiak; at the same time, the author divides the history as a narrative and the memory as non-verbalized newsworthiness. The memory is defined as a specific archeology of individual or patrimonial recollection as well as the memory of the body, the place and the language. Unlike the place of the memory (Pierre Nora’s definition), the memory of the place is an archeological set of “place options”, which is more involved in different contexts. It is also considered to be a layering or complementarity of different memories (one and the same landscape can be a part of eco-memory as well as a part of human historical memory or a place of a personal recollection). The I.Andrusiak’s poetry is full of natural and historical landscapes. They both are part of a symbolic culture field; the memory of the place is shown up as archeological immersion into a historical narrative or etymological depths. The landscape in I.Andrusiak’s poetry is more of an archetypical place, written in the cultural topography. The sensual nature of something is very important for a poet. Although, seeing the world as a text of a culture in poetry is more important than that.
