The article is devoted to studying the features of composition of the modern short story. Тwo tendencies which exist today in the composition solution of the short story are considered: on the one hand, clarity of the fabule line, on the other hand, unfabule creation of the short story, lack of a sharp intrigue. Various types of composite creation of the short story which exist today in French literature are defined.
